Try SAL3 bar soap shampoo!

Active Ingredients: 10% sulfur, 3% salicylic acid. Inactive ingredients: Neutral soap base and fragrance.

The sulfur in the bar soap helps get rid of the nasty fungus that causes that odor. The keratolytic properties of salicylic acid works in synergy with the sulfur to cleanse the oil from your scalp that the fungus thrives on! Looking for personal medical information about this condition? Consult with your physician first, as always, about any personal medical matters. About offensive hair odor .... If you've never had it, your lucky! Hair odor can be very embarrassing, and difficult to deal with! Once you get it, we've heard that some go through life with this condition for a long time, and all the embarrassment that comes with it. It's so embarassing just getting close to people, because you know the odor is offensive to them. If you or a loved one has it, you know what that means!

What's a way to get rid of hair odor?

Hair odor from smelly scalp is a fungal condition, and the fungus thrives on oil from your skin. Regular shampooing with ordinary shampoo just doesn't do the trick. Only an advanced soap with lots of sulfur like SAL3 can act on the fungus, while it cleanses your scalp. Fungus hates sulfur !

Where can you find SAL3 soap? It's available online at www.SAL3.com. A six bar pack costs about $20, and includes free shipping anywhere in the USA. For customers in Europe and Asia, a special SAL3 Jet Pack is available.

A reader sends us this information about scalp infection:

I learned that sometimes smelly scalp odor can be caused by more than a fungus. Sometimes it's an infection.

If it's an infection instead of fungus, that strange smell probably stems from folliculitis. It's a bacterial infection in your hair follicles.

Where does the infection occur besides the scalp? Folliculitis can appear on the chest, neck, back, buttocks, and thighs -- and in rare cases on the scalp. Usually caused by the bacteria staphylococcus, this infection can signal its arrival with white pustules that itch or burn. Because folliculitis can be exacerbated by friction (causing severe outbreaks where men shave their beards and women shave their legs), you may want to avoid wearing hairbands or a hat until the infection clears up.

With regular shampooing with sulfur based shampoos and anti-bacterial soaps, and overall attention to cleanliness, folliculitis often disappears on its own. If it doesn't, anti-bacterial shampoo and oral antibiotics can help. To get treatment (and a professional diagnosis), you should head to a dermatologist and show him or her your scalp.
